Looking for someone to listen?

Hello! My name is Naomi O'Connor.

I'm a UK qualified psychotherapist. I offer  counselling to adults in the UK and EU countries. I understand that it's not the easiest step to embark on a counselling journey, so thank you very much for clicking on my page.

Counselling can help you make sense of your past, re-assess your present and think about the direction you would like your future to be. As a therapist, I am able to provide you with a safe and non-judgemental space, to help you build a kinder relationship with yourself and in turn, be able to make sense of your concerns, facilitate your own insight, and explore solutions in a way which has meaning for you.

I provide a service that is uniquely tailored to you and your difficulties, no matter how big they may seem. My aim is to support you to explore challenges, painful situations, negative thoughts/behaviours and more, which may be preventing you from living your life to the fullest.

My practice is grounded in extensive and rigorous training completed at a high academic level, ensuring that the support I offer is both evidence-based and deeply considered.

What I work with & Specialisms:

General but in-depth:

-Anxiety (including working with people experiencing panic attacks)

-Depression

-Setting boundaries and reducing people pleasing behaviours

-General relationship difficulties

-Work-related stress

-Family issues

Navigating Trauma and the Past:

My practice is rooted in supporting individuals through both recent and past trauma. I am particularly well-versed in working with childhood trauma & ''the inner child'', helping you explore how early experiences may still be echoing in your life today, impacting your current emotional wellbeing, your attachment style, self-esteem and relationships.

Apart from childhood trauma and difficult upbringings, I also work with other trauma: violent, sexual, verbal and racial to mention some.

Abuse, Complex &  Narcissistic Relationships (be it romantic, parental, sibling, friends, collegial relationships):

I work with those impacted by abuse, narcissistic dynamics, and toxic or difficult relationships. Whether you are currently in a difficult relationship, seeking to understand one from your past, or are in the process of leaving, there will be room to explore the complexities of your feelings, dynamics, and direction in these particular relationships. There will never be any pressure from me to leave a relationship.

I also have a particular interest in difficult parent-child relationships, and have a deep understanding of the unique cultural nuances within different cultural backgrounds, including the specific pressures and emotional bonds that shape the relationship between these parents and their children.

Working with Mothers:

Whether you are a first-time mother or have several children, I give mothers space to explore the profound emotional and physical landscape of parenting—honouring both the immense joys and the complex challenges this transition brings. I support women through:

- Postpartum depression

-Healing from traumatic births

- The persistent weight of "maternal guilt"

- Managing anxieties that arise when one’s own past trauma surfaces in your parenting

-Simply wanting to parent better

Cults & High-Control Groups:

I assist individuals at any stage of their journey with high-control environments or cults. I will never pressure you to leave a group. My role is to provide a safe, objective space to explore your experiences, unless or until you specify that leaving is goal you wish to work toward.

What To Expect

When speaking with me, I will offer a non-judgmental and confidential space for you to be able to explore your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviours so that you can develop a better understanding of yourself and others.

I offer a free 15-20 minute confidential consultation so that we can have an informal chat where you can ask any questions that you might have about how I work, and for me to understand why you are seeking counselling at this point in time.

You will have the option of doing short or long term sessions depending on your financial situation, and depending on what you aim to get out of counselling.

  • *I currently only offer a few face to face sessions in Tunbridge Wells, otherwise I do offer online video or phone call sessions which my clients and I have found to be as productive over many years.*

I am currently offering online sessions or telephone counselling.
